Arden Glogau is a passionate and experienced early childhood educator, currently teaching 3-year-olds at the Shames JCC Early Childhood Center. She holds a New York State Professional Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth-2nd grade) and Childhood Education (Grades 1-6). Previously, Arden was an elementary school teacher for over 10 years both in Rockland County and in the New York City School District. She worked at Ramaquois Day Camp in Pomona, NY for nine years, and has been the River Friends Camp Director for three summers.


With a deep commitment to fostering social-emotional development and early learning, Arden creates nurturing and engaging environments that encourage children to explore, play, and grow at their own pace. At River Friends, she blends creativity, structure, and play, providing memorable experiences and supporting each child’s unique needs. Arden lives in New City, NY with her two daughters ages 11 and 15.

Melanie Freidman

Assistant Camp Director

With over 25 years of dedicated service at the JCC, Melanie Friedman has made a profound impact on the community. She began her journey as a counselor in the River Friends program, quickly discovering her passion for nurturing young minds. Her commitment and leadership skills led her to her current role as Assistant Director, overseeing various programs and initiatives. She also plays an active role in the JCC’s Early Childhood Program, providing support and expertise across all classrooms. 


One of Melanie’s favorite parts of camp is planning the theme days. She loves watching both campers and staff fully engage and enjoy the festivities. She is dedicated to fostering a positive environment for learning and play.


Melanie lives in Ossining with her husband, Ron, and their two daughters, Gabrielle and Arianna. Together, they share a love for family activities and community engagement, reflecting the values that Melanie instills in her work at the JCC.
